Smt. Sandhya Shankar is a top-ranked post-graduate music scholar with an MA in Music from Bangalore University and a wide teaching experience in institutions such as Bhakti Bharathi Prathishtan and Indiranagara Sangeetha Sabha.She has had her initial music lessons from Vasantalakshmi,Hassan.She has had advanced music lessons from Sri Ravendra of Mysore, Vidushi Dr. Sukanya Prabhakar, also from Mysore, and Vidushi Smt Neela Ramgopal of Bangalore. Her musical concerts have been held all over the state of Karnataka and also been broadcast through Akashwani.She has been awarded the the degree of Doctor of Philosophy(PhD) from Bangalore University in the year 2015
